GREENSBORO - Frank Novock scored off an assist from Joe Dusbabek 2:14 into overtime, lifting the Roanoke Express to a 4-3 victory over the Greensboro Generals in an East Coast Hockey League game Saturday night at the Greensboro Coliseum.

The Generals, who pulled within a game of .500 on Dec. 14, are now winless in their last five games, going 0-3-2 in the last nine days. Greensboro is 11-15-4 overall and in last place in the Northeast Division.

Viad Serov scored twice for the Generals. His power-play goal off assists from Rob Sandrock and all-star Andrei Lupandin at 6:08 of the third period tied the score at 3 and forced overtime.

Serov's first goal also came on the power play at 9:35 of the second period, tying the score at 2. Lupandin and goalie Frederic Henry were credited with assists.

Henry (5-3-1) finished with 29 saves, including one in overtime.

Roanoke took a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Jeff Sproat and Dusbabek. The Express outshot Greensboro 11-6 in the period.

The Generals cut it to 2-1 on Craig Stahl's goal at 10:16 off assists from David Whitworth and Sandrock.

Jordan Willis made 23 saves for the Express, including 11 in the third period. He' did not face a shot in overtime.

NOTES:
  • Sandrock and Lupandin finished with two assists apiece.
  • A crowd of 2,789 attended the game.
  • Greensboro excelled on special teams. The Generals went 2-for-4 on the power play, while Greensboro's penalty-killing unit held Roanoke to an 0-for-5 night on the power play.
