Generals defeated at Roanoke
Deficit too much to overcome Express 5, Generals 2 Staff report ROANOKE, Va. — The Roanoke Express jumped out to a 4-0 lead and cruised easily to a 5-2 victory over the Greensboro Generals in an East Coast Hockey League game Tuesday night. Jeff Sproat scored the first two goals of the game for Roanoke (16-9-5). Duncan Dalmao and Stefan Brannare added second-period goals, and the lead would have been 4-0 heading into the third period if not for Viad Serov's goal with 1:30 remaining in the second. Greensboro (11-14-3) scored again with 7:44 left in the game, when Sal Manganaro deflected in a Brian Loney slap shot, but Pete Gardiner scored on a power play just one minute later to put the game away. The Generals will play at Richmond on Friday night before returning home to play Roanoke on Saturday. |
