Generals 4, Lynx 3 Staff reports December 15, 2001 - Greensboro News & Record AUGUSTA, Ga. - Bujar Amidovski made 39 saves and Vlad Serov scored the tie-breaking goal in the third period, lifting the Greensboro Generals to a 4-3 victory over the Augusta Lynx in an East Coast Hockey League game Friday night. Amidovski, playing for the first time in two weeks, made 19 saves in the third period to preserve the victory. With the scored tied at 3 and the teams skating four-on-four, Serov scooped up a loose puck at the red line, sped past a defenseman and beat Gregg Naumenko after a forehand-backhand deke with 5:07 left. Rob Sandrock and Craig Stahl scored power-play goals in the first period as the Generals erased a 1-0 deficit. Augusta tied the score on Wes Swinson's power-play goal at 7:50 of the second period, but Greensboro regained the lead less than a minute later when David Whitworth deflected Sandrock's wrist shot into the net. The Generals have won five of their last six games. |
