GREENSBORO - David Whitworth scored an unassisted goal in overtime, lifting the Greensboro Generals to their third straight victory, 2-1 over the Pee Dee Pride at the Greensboro Coliseum on Saturday.

Sal Manganaro also scored for the Generals (9-11-2), who have won three of their last four. It was Greensboro's first victory against Southeast Division-leading Pee Dee, snapping an 0-7-1 streak all-time.

Prederic Henry made 20 saves for Greensboro, improving to 4-0.

In overtime, Brian Loney's check pushed a defender off the puck in the Pee Dee zone. Whitworth scooped up the loose puck, skated in 30 feet on a breakaway and beat former Generals goalie J.R. Prestifilippo with a high shot on the stick side at 1:58.

"It's just a play that developed from having a guy in good defensive position," Generals coach Graeme Townshend said. "(Loney) made a good play to create the turnover, and we were in position to take advantage of it. It's just good, sound hockey."
