Early flurry can't help Generals in defeat
Renegades 4, Generals 2 Staff reports Greensboro News & Record - December 2, 2001 WINSTON-SALEM - The Greensboro Generals have proved in the last two days that they are now familiar with the ice at the Joel Coliseum Annex in Winston-Salem. If a victory on Saturday night over Columbus didn't make that clear, a stretch early in the first period Sunday against Richmond certainly did. The Generals, playing their second game in Winston-Salem in two nights, scored two goals in 35 seconds in the sixth minute of the game to take an early 2-0 lead on the Renegades. But Richmond (10-9-3) soon took control, scoring the last four goals of the match to win 4-2 Andrei Lupandin scored his second goal in two games with the Generals, who drew 1,785 for a game which featured a Marty Stuart concert after the final horn. Brian Loney scored the other goal, and Wad Serov assisted on both. Bujar Amidovski had 31 saves for Greensboro (6-10-2). Jerry Gernander led the Renegades attack with a goal and an assist. |
