Generals 5, Cottonmouths 3 Staff report Greensboro News & Record - December 1, 2001 WINSTON-SALEM - Casey Kesseiring had a goal and two assists as the Greensboro Generals got their first "home" victory of the season, a 5-3 decision over the Columbus Cottonmouths at the Joel Coliseum Annex. The game, which drew 1,504 fans, was the second of 10 to be played in Winston-Salem this season. Kesseiring's goal was his first of the year. He also assisted on the game-winner, by Viad Serov in the third period. The Generals' new goalkeeper, Frederic Henry, stopped 25 shots to get the victory in his first start. Another newcomer, Andrei Lupandin, scored a goal in his first game with Greensboro. Chris Bell also had a goal and an assist, and Sal Manganaro had two assists. The Generals will return to Winston-Salem for a game tonight against the Richmond Renegades. Game time is 7:30, and a concert by country artist Marty Stuart will follow the game. |
