Renegades hold back Generals
Renegades 2, Generals 1
Greensboro News & Record – March 8, 2002
GREENSBORO - Matt Dennehy's first professional game was memorable, but unfortunately for the Greensboro Generals, the final score against the Richmond Renegades wasn't.
The Renegades rallied from an early deficit to down the Generals 2-1 at the Greensboro Coliseum on Thursday. The loss left Greensboro at 19-32-8. The win lifted Richmond to 28-25-10 and extended its winning streak to four straight.
Dennehy, signed earlier in the day by the Generals, stepped on to the ice two minutes into the game and nearly scored on his first touch of the puck. Richmond goalie Raftislay Stana made the save but the Generals' Alex Matviychuk scored off the rebound.
Richmond countered with two goals late in the first penod, the first by Aaron Fox and the second by Lars Pettersen.
Stana preserved the lead, stopping 31 of 32 shots.
The Generals remain home tonight against the Roanoke Express and Saturday against the Greenville Grrrowl.
