Generals defeated by Trenton
Titans 2, Generals 1 Staff reports January 14, 2002 - Greensboro News & Record WINSTON-SALEM — The Greensboro Generals lost their third game of the weekend Sunday, falling to the division-leading Trenton Titans 2-1 at Joel Coliseum. Greensboro cut a 2-0 lead in half when Craig Stahl scored in the first two minutes of the third period, but didn't get many more chances. The Generals went on the power play with 1:35 remaining in the game, and tried to take a two-man advantage by challenging one of the Titans' sticks as illegal. However, the challenge was denied, forcing the Generals to send a player to the bench, and the team could not convert. Greensboro killed all eight power-play chances against it in the game, and rookie goaltender Jason Genik, playing because of injuries to the Generals' top two goalies, stopped 42 shots. The Generals play three road games this week before returning to Winston-Salem on Jan. 26. |
