Andrei Lupandin named to ECHL All-Star Team
Defenseman will make first All-Star appearance
Leading scorer Vlad Serov snubbed

Greensboro, NC - The Greensboro Generals of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) are proud to announce defenseman Andrei Lupandin has been selected to represent the Generals and the Northern Conference all-star team in the 2002 Soverign Bank/ECHL All-Star Game. The game will be played on Tuesday, January 22 at 7:30 at the Soverign Bank Arena in Trenton, NJ.

Lupandin, 23, was recently acquired by the Generals from the Cincinnati Cyclones on November 29. Since arriving, the 6'0”, 190 pound blueliner has been on a tear, pocketing six goals and three assists in only eleven games. Including his statistics in Cincinnati, Lupandin has nine goals and eleven assists for 20 points in 29 games this season. His nine goals lead all ECHL defensemen, and his four power play goals are tied for the league lead amongst defensemen. Over his three year career, the native of Kharkiv, Ukraine has scored 33 goals and 68 assists for 101 points in 160 games.

An interesting omission from the northern conference squad is Generals' left wing Vlad Serov. Serov, also from the Ukraine and a childhood friend of Lupandin's, leads the team with 15 goals and 23 points in 27 games, but it was not enough to be selected to play in the All-Star Game.

The Generals have two home games this weekend before the Christmas break. They host the Roanoke Express on Saturday night, and they will take on the Reading Royals on Sunday evening. Both games will begin at 7:30 at the Greensboro Coliseum. Tickets for all home games range from $9.00 - $16.00, with two dollar discounts on certain seats for students and seniors. The special "Foxhole" section is also on sale for $20.00. The foxhole is a private ice-level section fully equipped with a cash bar, barstools and cocktail tables. Tickets are available at both the Greensboro Coliseum and LJVM Coliseum Annex Monday – Saturday from 11:00 – 5:00 and through the first period of all game nights. You can also order tickets through TicketMaster by calling (336) 852-1100, or go to the TicketMaster link at www.greensborogenerals.com.
