Generals encourage throwing bears on the ice
Generals "Teddy Bear Toss" to be held on December 16 Greensboro, NC - The Greensboro Generals of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) are proud to announce a special event to be held on their December 16 game against the defending Kelly Cup champion South Carolina Stingrays. The Generals will hold a "Teddy Bear Toss" promotion that afternoon, with everyone receiving a buy one ticket, get one free offer if they bring a teddy bear or stuffed animal to the game. All bears and other stuffed animals brought to the game will be donated to Piedmont area children in need during the holiday season. The Generals game against South Carolina on the 16th will be held at 3:00 at the Greensboro Coliseum. The bears will be collected by the Generals by all fans throwing the bears on the ice immediately after the Generals score their first goal of the day. Aside from throwing hats on the ice after a hat trick and the "Chuck-A-Puck" promotion, this will be the only time all season fans will be encouraged to throw anything on the ice. "We want to be able to help out some children who could use a boost for Christmas," says Generals' co-owner and president Rocco Scarfone. "By holding this teddy bear toss, both the Generals and their fans can make a difference in a young child's Christmas by giving them a bear they'll cherish for years." Tickets for the December 16 game and all home games range from $9.00 - $16.00, before the teddy bear discount. The special "Foxhole" section is also on sale for $20.00. The foxhole is a private ice-level section fully equipped with a cash bar, barstools and cocktail tables. Tickets are available at both the Greensboro Coliseum and LJVM Coliseum Annex Monday - Saturday from 11:00 - 5:00 and through the first period of all game nights.
