GENERALS EXHIBITION GAMES WILL BENEFIT LOCAL FAMILY
25 September, 2001 Greensboro, NC - The Greensboro Generals of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) have announced the ticket proceeds of their two home exhibition games will go to a memorial trust fund for Alexandria and Nathan Bradshaw. They are the children of Sandy Bradshaw, a Greensboro resident who was one of thousands of people who lost their lives on September 11. She was a flight attendant on United Airlines flight 93 that crashed in Pennsylvania. The Generals two home exhibition games are on Thursday, October 4 against the Roanoke Express and Monday, October 8 against the Charlotte Checkers. Both games start at 7:00 at the IceChalet, located at 6119 Landmark Center Blvd. in Greensboro. Admission for both games is $5.00, with all proceeds going directly to the trust fund. Tickets will be available on a first come, first serve basis for the games by calling the IceChalet at 852-1515. Anyone who wishes to donate more than the admission price is more than welcome to do so. The money raised from the games will be presented to Sandy's husband Phil Bradshaw. "Given the terrible circumstances, donating the ticket money from the exhibition games is the least we can do," says Generals President and co-owner Rocco Scarfone. "Being as visible as we are in the community, it's our wish to help someone locally who was devastated by this catastrophe. We want the entire Bradshaw family to know that the Greensboro Generals and all of our fans wish them our deepest sympathies. Hopefully, this small gesture will help by letting them know that the Piedmont and the Generals are thinking of them." |
