LAST WEEK: 3/27 AUGUSTA 1, GREENSBORO 2 (SO) - This would turn out to be the Generals' final victory of the season. After a scoreless first period, the Lynx took the lead at 1-0 on a Bryce Classen score in the second period. The Generals were held off the scoreboard until the 9:05 mark of the third period, when Chris Bell redirected a Jeff Bes pass past Augusta netminder Zak Bierk for the game-tying goal. The shootout went to the sixth round before the Generals pulled out the win, with Jeff Zehr tallying the game-winner. Frederic Henry posted the victory in goal for the Generals, stopping 28 of 29 shots on the evening. 3/29 SOUTH CAROLINA 6, GREENSBORO 2 - The Generals erased a 1-0 deficit with goals from Chris Bell and Craig Stahl to take a 2-1 advantage in the second period. However, the Stingrays quickly tied the score, then took the lead for good in the final minute of the second period. South Carolina put the game away with three third period goals, including one just 14 seconds into the period. 3/30 GREENSBORO 1, JOHNSTOWN 6 - The Generals faced a flurry of shots in the opening five minutes of the game to fall behind 2-0. Jeff Zehr got the Generals close by converting on a five-on-three power play, knocking the deficit down to 2-1 after the first period. The Chiefs notched a pair of goals just eight seconds apart to coast to a 4-1 lead, then added two more third period scores for the final difference. 3/31 CHARLOTTE 6, GREENSBORO 2 - In the final game of the season, the Generals just didn't have enough energy to pull out the victory. Playing with only eleven skaters for the third time in as many games, Greensboro found themselves down 3-0 after one period. The line of Chris Bell, Jeff Bes, and Jeff Zehr single-handedly got the Generals back in the game early in the second period. Bell made the score 3-1 with assists from Bes and Zehr, and Bes would cut the gap to 3-2 with Bell and Zehr getting the helpers. Unfortunately, the comeback ended there, as the Checkers countered with two goals of their own in the second period, then added an insurance tally in the third. TRANSACTIONS:
