Graeme was born on October 23, 1965.

Sal Manganaro broke the all-time Generals’ record for games played in the team’s home opener. It was Sal’s 138 game in a Greensboro uniform.

The Generals are in last place, but the team 80 miles down Interstate 85 is just one point ahead. The Generals are 1-3 after four games and the Checkers are 1-4-1 after five.

Charlotte Checkers coach Don MacAdam is at least as unhappy as Generals coach Graeme Townshend. "I built this team, I have to make some changes," MacAdam is quoted as saying on the teams’ official website, - - "to start a year like this is unacceptable."

Townshend is not quoted on his team’s official website, but then no one else is either.

After the Generals’ home opening loss, Townshend said to the gathered media (two guys and an intern) that he would find success either with his current players or with others.

Despite Rocco Scarfone’s statement that the Generals will be the only team with cheerleaders, several other teams already have them. In fact, the Greenville Grrrowl have 17 cheerleaders, and five of them are named Jennifer.

The New Orleans Brass have several interesting promotions. They have Scout Night, Military Night, and Law Firm Night. They should allow anyone with a rat, lizard or snake in free for the latter.

Currently, Greensboro leads in the ECHL in three categories: (1) Penalties in Minutes. After the melee in the home opener, the Generals have 258 penalty minutes to lead the league. (2) Game Misconducts, with seven and (3) Match misconducts with one.

Chris Brassard has the most PIM in a single game with 35 in the October 12 season opener against the Lynx in Augusta… He also has the most majors, 3, in a single game for his activity the same night.

Shaun Peet is fourth in the ECHL with 43 PIM so far. He has done it in only two games. The leaders, Matt Zultek & Graham Belak of Trenton and Ryan Shmyr of Johnstown, have played 6, 6, and 5 games, respectively.

Jarret Thompson is fourth in the league in shooting percentage. He is 2 of 6 for a .333 percentage. This would beat Shaquille O’Neal from the free throw line.

Goalie Bujar Amidovski is fourth in the league in save percentage. He has stopped 61 of 65 shots for a .942 percentage … He is also one of only six goaltenders with a shutout.

On this Day 1993
Former Greensboro player Dan Gravelle began an eighteen-game, 41 point streak. The streak ended on November 29, 1993, and turned out to be the third longest of the season.
