Familiar Ftorek back with team

The Greensboro Generals signed Sam Ftorek to a contract for the 2003-04 season.

Ftorek, the Generals' leading scorer last season, had signed with Bridgeport of the American Hockey League, but was released in training camp.

"It is bittersweet for me," Ftorek said in a prepared statement. "I am returning to Greensboro with the opportunity to be surrounded by players that I am accustomed to and an impact head coach in Rick Adduono."

The Generals open the season Friday against South Carolina at the Greensboro Coliseum.
