The Greensboro Coliseum reports worsening deficits
- The city-owned arena loses approximately $1 million more than projected,
including $259,000 in losses from its ill-conceived operation of the Greensboro
Generals hockey team. The numbers: In the fiscal year that ended on June 30,
the coliseum lost $2.6 million. It hosted 184 fewer events last year and saw
attendance fall by 109,000, concessions by $850,000.
Adding Insult to injury
A private booster group that had pledged to raise $200,000 to cover the
Generals' losses has yet to pay the city a dime.
