![]() April 3, 2004 Generals lose at Florence, fall to fifth in Southern Pride - 5 Generals - 1 Staff report FLORENCE, S.C - The Greensboro Generals missed a chance to keep up in the ECHL playoff race Friday night, losing 5-1 to the Florence Pride. The loss dropped the Generals into fifth place in the ECHL's Southern Division entering the final day of the regular season. Only the top four teams receive playoff berths. Greensboro (39-30-2) has 80 points; Roanoke and Florida are tied for third with 82. The South Carolina Stingrays, the Generals' opponents tonight, have 83. Greensboro must win at South Carolina tonight at 7:30 and hope for a loss by either Roanoke or Florida in order to qualify for the playoffs. Why the Generals lost: Florence scored five unanswered goals as the Generals offense failed to produce a goal in the final 47 minutes.
