Why the Generals lost: The Generals couldn't overcome the three-goal lead the Express built in the first period. After battling to pull within one goal, the Generals hit the post with just under a minute to go and the game ended at 4-3.

The play: Roanoke scored its first two goals in the third minute of the first period, a scoring flurry that totted Greensboro to play catchup hockey for the rest of the game.
