GENERAL-LY SPEAKING WITH... MATT TUREK
Q: What would someone from Greensboro find interesting about your hometown of Caistor Centre, Ontario?
A: My neighbor is that idiot that goes over Niagara Falls every couple of years. He's a proud Caistor Centre native.
Q: What's the best/worst city in the ECHL?
A: Fort Myers (FL) is up there and, obviously, Greensboro. The worst city is Atlantic City I think they could bulldoze it into the ocean. It's ahead of Johnstown (PA) and Wheeling (WV).
Q: You are the ECHL commissioner, what is your first act?
A: Get rid of the red line. I think it will open the game up.
Q: If not for hockey, what would you be doing?
A: My dream would be a NASCAR driver, or to be fishing somewhere.
Q: What's the weirdest superstition you've seen?
A: My first (professional) year I played with a guy who used to take his sticks home on game day and go for a nap with them in the afternoon.
Q: What's your most embarrassing hockey moment?
A: I was playing in Germany and I was introduced before a game. I stepped on the ice and my blade fell off my skate. Not only did my feet go up about three feet above my head before I landed, but, the worse thing was, I had to go fetch my blade about 15 feet away, and I had to push off my stick like I was paddling to pick it up.
